THINK!
How should we organise society? Does it have to be this way?
‘There is no alternative’, Margaret Thatcher famously told us.
This work rejects that simplistic and corrosive notion and begins to examine some of the alternative solutions to pressing global issues by today’s great thinkers from diverse cultures, nationalities and communities.

THINK! with its companion piece ‘The Landscape of Ideology’ is a twin project that challenges the tradition of documentary photography being mostly concerned with social ills, shining a light into dark corners of society, highlighting what is wrong in the world. This work attempts to look forward; to address solutions to global challenges and to encourage debate.
The project evolved from an understanding that the way modern global society has been organized can essentially be traced to the ideas of two towering figures of 20th Century economics: John Maynard Keynes and Friedrich Hayek. Two educated, white, middle-class, Western men, who between them, defined the way the world has operated for 80 years. Their two great economic ideologies prevailed for 40 years each and we are now at a crossroads. Through photography, this project asks who will provide the roadmap for the future in a new globalized world, exploring ideas of great men and women from diverse cultures, nationalities and communities and setting their ideas against the landscape remains of economic ideology worldwide. The project is designed to broaden the debate around ‘How we organise society’ and aims to introduce new economic thinking to a wide audience in an accessible manner through the collaborative use of photography and concise thought pieces.
